How to make a room a Haven

What we mean by haven in this instance is a 'safe' place you can go to meditate, relax, study, basically whatever you wish and know that you will not be bothered by spirits with malicous intent. A conventional shield is not the way to go about this. Why? While a shield will keep spirits out it will also trap in the spirits presently in the room that you are trying to make a haven. And that will only get you some ticked off spirits that will work to bring your shield down. So, how to go about this? Start by lighting some white candles, size and shape do not matter. This will purify the room. Also burn incenses that have protective, and purifing/cleansing properties. (Take a look at the article "Properties of scents and colors" for which incenses apply.) Next focus on relaxing yourself. Choose a place where you know that you will not be disturbed by people, things or sounds. If this is not possible due to the location of the room, choose a time of day that the room is least likely to be occupied, and when you are least likely to be interupted. Take some deep breaths, meditate, focus on your breathing, do whatever it takes to get your mind off of other concerns. You want to be relaxed and free of distractions, but not so comfortable that you will fall asleep. Some find it helpful to dim the lights or play soothing music quietly in the background. Try a variety of things and see what works best for you. Next start by building a shield around yourself, around your body. Gather your energy and push the shield out to fill the room, feel the energy merging with the walls. Focus on what you want the shield to do: keep out spirits. What kind of spirits is up to you, even the intent for the shield is up to you. Keep the intent simple, use as few words as possible and focus on this thought as you push out your shield. Repeat it over and over in your mind. If you know any protective spells you could incorporate it into the shield to strengthen it if you wish. Now this is not something that you can just put up and forget about, a shield must be maintained because things will feed off of the energy of the shield and damage it trying to seek entrance. So make it a point to check the shield periodically and repeat the above mentioned process when necessary.

Meditation tips

- Meditation is a great way to reduce/relieve stress.

- There is no one way to meditate.

- Most people focus on their breathing. Try inhaling, counting to four, exhale, counting to four and repeat the process.

- Many people find it helpful to choose a dim area. You can choose a dark room and light it with aromatherapy candles. This affords you both the relaxing scents as well as natural light which is easier on sensative eyes then artificial light.

- Choose a quiet place where you will not be interrupted.

- Some people find it helpful to play background music, a sounds of nature cd or sit where you can listen to the sounds of nature.

- If you choose to sit outside, make sure to check the weather before hand, choose a place far away from the noises of the city, and a place not often travelled by others.

- Some people incorporate the use of crystals into their meditation sessions.

- Choose a comfortable place and position, but not one so comfortable that you will fall asleep.
