Types of Vampyres

There is a lot of various types of Vampyres out there, more than this site could ever list. However, you can find the most common below. Please, note that each of these types could be further divided into many subtypes. You can also come across a Vampyre that is basically a mix of two, or more, types. Anyway, without any further ado, here we go:

Sanguine Vampyres

Their name originates from the latin word "sanguis" (means blood in English) and blood is their main energy source. They are capable of learning alternate ways of feeding so they don't have to be dependant solely on blood, however they will always just prefer blood to anything else.

Psychic Vampyres

They feed on pranic energy (life force) of their donors. Similarly to bloodletting, the process will leave their donors weakened and tired, depending on the amount of energy taken. Psychic Vampyres often start feeding as Sanguinarians during the first steps of their Awakening, because psychic feeding takes time and practise in order to work efficiently. Except for different preferred means of feeding, thery are the same as Sangs.

Astral Vampyres

Astral Vampyres, sometimes also called Dream Walkers, enter dreams of sleeping individuals in order to feed on the emotions and energy they generate during the dream. They often manipulate dreams of others in order to generate enough emotions (fear, hatred, pain, love etc). A lot of various folklore tales about nightmares and dubious dream visitors is actually based on Astral Vampyres. They tend to enter dreams against the will of the actual dreamer. These things can cause quite a lot of damage if done repeatedly to a single individual.

Elemental Vampyres

These feed directly on the four basic elements (fire, earth etc.). Some consider them a lesser Vampyres because the nature of a Vampyre is to feed on the life force of others.

Emotional Vampyres

There is a close resemblence between these and Astral Vampyres. The main difference is, that rather than entering dreams, they feed on emotions their donors generate while they are awake.

Incubbi/Succubi

There has been a lot of controversy about these and some Vampyres actually suggest they are part demons. Incubbi/Sucubi use sex and emotions in order to manipulate their donors so that they can get what they need – energy. What they do is actually a form of psy-feeding, similar to that of Psy Vampyres. The method they use to feed isn't exclusive to them, though, so other Vampyres could also choose to feed this way, but unlike Succubi/Incubbi very rarely do so. Most Vampyres have morals and while sex definitely isn't much of a big deal, its often considered a serious breach of loyalty. More so, they don't understand all the needless work considering there are much more easier and practical ways of obtaining energy. Incubbi/Succubi often tend to look for strong-willed people to ultimately get what they want. They can even use other Vampyres and can be very aggressive and dangerous, especially if the afflicted individual finds out and is trying to get out of their influence.

Vampyre Hierarchy

Elder Vampyres (Elders)

Very old Vampyres, generally 100 or more years. They prefer solitude and are asleep for most of the time. Hence only a small handful of other Vampyres ever meets one. They use astral projection as means of communication with others so they can still share their vast knowledge with those they deem worthy. They are to be respected by all other Vampyres. Both Royals and Purebloods can become elders. Turned Vampyres don't usually live long enough because they remain too tightly connected to their human nature.

Royal Vampyres (Royals)

The most powerful Vampyres who descended from the original bloodlines of ancient Vampyres. Their power is immense when compared to Purebloods and Turns and they are to be respected as such. Royal Vampyres are born if two Roayls have a child, or if a Royal and some other Vampyre have a child. Not many of them is still around as our bloodlines have been watered down.

Pureblood Vampyres (Purebloods)

First off, there are no literally pureblooded Vampyres on Earth (except for Kain, who is asleep), there are only so called Purebloods. They aren’t nearly as powerful as Royal Vampyres and their powers are limited. Therefore, the term (Pureblood) may be considered kind of misleading. Its actual meaning is simple – it just refers to anybody who was born as a Vampyre. Purebloods are born if two Vampyres have a child, or if any Vampyre and a mortal have a child (not very common). Some Purebloods work together and gather in Clans. They are the most numerous kind of Vampyres on Earth as of now.

Turned Vampyres (Turns)

The weakest of all, Turns used to be mortals that were turned into Vampyres at some point. They retain some powers of their Sire, but usually not all of them. They aren't able to learn many new things compared to Purebloods or even Royals. They are greatly dependant on their Sire at the beginning because other Vampyres tend to be distrustful of them. Turns are under protection of their Sire or Clan, though, so generally its not wise to attack them just for kicks. They are constantly linked to their Sire and often used as slaves or soldiers in various clan wars.
