A Closer Look at Vampyrism
While what I've outlined in "What is Vampyrism?" truly describes us, really what is Vampyrism? The following statements describe it in good detail. We know what we need, and we know we must take it, sometimes to the detriment of others. This is an unavoidable fact of reality. We are predators at heart, even though we are physically indistinguishable from our prey. The spirit within us sets us apart. Our perceptions, our passions, and our powers make us strangers among ordinary men. Even if we refuse to act upon our more destructive impulses, we keenly feel the difference between us and those who do not share what we are. No matter how hard we try to blend in, we can never truly belong.
This is a blessing and a curse. The lives we live are fuller and more dynamic than anything most others might imagine. The levels of reality we are privy to make the world a profound and wondrous place. Yet there are few who can share our insights. Thus, we tend to be solitary, feeding alone, rarely interacting with those who would not and could not understand. Our utter separateness drives us to seek out companionship among our own kind for it is here only that we find true acceptance and understanding. We may find friends and allies among the aware
mortals, but they can never truly understand what we are and what that means within the context of so many different lives. There are some experiences they can neither accept nor share,
and thus there is always something lacking when in their company.
We carry ourselves with a proud determination and can seem arrogant, detached, and cold. We are often of a predatory nature, and with difficulty avoid using those around us. To most we
seem unapproachable. There is an air about us which seems somehow to set us apart. Even those ignorant to our true natures react to this, treating us with respect, attraction or fear.
The unaware mortals stare then look away from us and are unable to meet our gaze. They are disturbed by our presence but rarely will they understand what disturbed them or why. I
nstinctually, they fear us. Children will know us, though rarely do they fear. In their innocence, they have not yet learned to doubt, and thus are open to a clear perception of the world around them.
Psys aren't better than Sangs, Sangs aren't better than Psys. They just feed in different ways. That is really the only difference. Sangs with age can learn to feed like Psys do, and in
the beginning all Psys must feed with blood until they learn how to efficiently use their abilities. Sangs, Psys, and Astral. We are essentially all the same. We are all Vampyres. Remember that. Don't use petty differences to further separate us, there are so few of use as it is. We should all unite, not squabble amongst ourselves like humans.
Vampyrism is much, much more than a simple need for blood, contradictory to many of the "Vampyre Help/Support Sites" out there. Religion plays no role in the life of a Vampyre. Its role
is independent of being a Vampyre. In all the body dies, but many believe the Vampyre's soul lives on. As Vampyres we have many talents and abilities that do make us superior to mortals, whether they like it or not. Any Vampyre who doesn't recognize and use their abilities is really just a semi-awakened Vampyre. Vampyres who are like this are really only mortals who drink blood. They either don't see that they have these abilities or else use them unconsciously, which is very dangerous both to themselves as well as those around them. Like everything
Vampyrism has its ups and its downs. The Thirst can be plaguing and seem like a curse at times but it has an upside that many fail to see for whatever reason. The consuming of blood for a Vampyre is an orgasmic experience, even more so than sex. It shares power, it binds two individuals together as well as quieting the drive for blood inside us. After drinking blood we
often experience a high of sorts, and a calmness. This is only one of the many upsides. (I have listed several in the above paragraphs as well.) Being a Vampyre is a part of who we
are, to remove it would be like removing a part of ourselves, we would not be the same with out it. To those of you that have not experienced what it is like to be a Vampyre it simply
cannot be explained. Vampyrism is a gift and you should cherish it as such, not treated like a disease that needs to be cured. Any Vampyre that is willing to take or search for a cure
because it would "make life easier" is weak and doesn't deserve the gift they've been given. True Vampyres will not tolerate weakness, but instead will eliminate it, especially with in
their own ranks. And like any gift, what is given can be taken away. Being what we are doesn't make us sadists, or masochist, its merely a part of who we are that is different from
everyone else. Just because we are different doesn't mean we are 'sick', 'broken' or 'need to be cured'.
Vampyres do have clans, tribes, houses, courts, etc. Here are a few quick tips for determining the true organizations from the fake ones. Most true houses, clans (etc) accept only those of their bloodlines (family) and have exclusive membership. Others (those not of the same blood) who are allowed to enter their ranks must be found worthy by the other members. Members look
for certain qualities to determine the worthiness, which cannot be listed here, obviously. These organizations are very secretive and difficult if not impossible to get information about
if you're not a member. Members that do share information and violate the secrecy are often eliminated or punished severely. Fake organizations will often charge money and make you buy trinkets for membership, and only after doing so can you be considered "vampire" in their eyes. Or people wishing to be a member of such organizations must go through a 'magic ritual' that 'makes' them into a "vampire". These sorts of groups are often populated by deluded mortals and misguided Vampyres. Money or knowledge of their books that you must first buy will allow
you to move up in their ranks. Rituals are often used for the transition between the ranks. These organizations will do lots of advertising and hold public gatherings to recruit new
members.
Vampyres do have places that they gather, but its very underground and secretive. They are often so secretive that other Vampyres often have difficulty in locating or even in learning about them.
Vampyrism is hereditary, meaning that if one or both of your parents are Vampyres than you can be too. What do I mean by 'you can be'? Well the Awakening occurs during puberty. During that space of time (or earlier if possible) a Vampyre must awaken, recognize and embrace their nature. If they do not do that prior to the end of puberty then they have forsaken their nature
and cannot become an Awakened Vampyre, even if they drink blood later. The only chance they have after that time is if another Vampyre chooses to turn them. This usually the case unless
the parents (both must be Vampyres in this situation) are Awakened, then the child born to them will also be awakened from birth. Born Awakened Vampyres are rather rare, born Latent are
much more common. If an Awakened Vampyre later turns their back on their nature, forsaking it then they revert to a latent state and cannot be re-awakened. A Vampyre child born with one Vampyre parent and one mortal parent will obviously be weaker than the parent because the Vampyre bloodline has been watered down. If two Vampyres have a child then the child will be
stronger than either of the two parents.
