I'm a Vampyre, so now what?

Now that you have the much needed confirmation and clarity in what you are, what is next? You are probably experiencing a torrent of emotions; happiness to know finally for sure what you are, depression because you realize that you are different from everyone else, doubt in yourself and in your new found understanding, denial even; you feel like you don't really fit in anywhere, the nagging pangs of the Thirst, frustration at your inability to find a consistant and reliable donor, overwhelmed by the world of Vampyres that is before you and even the need to rebel against your parents, the situation at hand and even the world. These feelings are common and very understandable. Right now you are probably thinking that life sucks to be you as a Vampyre in a world full of mortals. Bright light hurts your eyes, you experience strange new sensations because of your awakening powers and abilities, no one seems to understand you, and you feel as if there is no one to turn to. Yes the awakening and the resulting development and discovery of your powers and abilities can be a confusing, frustrating and even lonely times. But it doesn't have to be.

Your life will not always be so chaotic and upsetting. And there are places you can go to talk with others about your problems, questions and life in general with others like you. Our Message Boards were set up for that purpose. The internet is a wonderful resource that can connect you to other Vampyres, donors, like-minded people, mentors, and more in your area or any where in the world, use it to your advantage. You don't have to suffer and struggle alone! But this is merely the start of the path before you. The key to adjusting to this new life ahead of you is understanding and knowledge. It is indeed possible and probable to live life as a happy, and well adjusted Vampyre, and even to thrive as one. You are probably thinking yeah, right, but I jest not.

An important part of being a healthy, happy Vampyre is ensuring that you are well fed. And I'm not talking food. Blood, Pranic energy. This is what every Vampyre needs. If you don't then stop fooling yourself, you aren't a Vampyre. Because of what we are, we are afforded abilities and skills that can be used to aid us in the pursuit of blood and energy. Energy manipulation is pretty much second nature to a Vampyre. This is why Sangs can learn to psi-feed with some practice, since psi-feeding is just a form of energy manipulation. Psi-feeding is a useful skill, especially since that desireable donor can be difficult to find. Presence can also be used with a desired donor to our advantage as well. Presence (also known as Vampyre Charm) allows us to charm people with ease. Use this ability wisely, its effect is rather powerful. Energy manipulation allows us to master magic with ease as well. It might be something to look into. Though most Vampyres don't bother with magic, choosing to use their Vampyric abiltities instead. While you are honing your new found abilities and skills, don't forget your intincts! Pay close attention to them and follow them.

There is an emotional part of this as well. Don't fight your nature, embrace it, this is essential for a happy and healthy Vampyre. If you don't embrace it you will be prone to frequent bouts of depression, mood swings, imbalance in your energy flow, the list go on. Fighting what you are causes more problems then you want to know about. Just as a leopard cannot change its spots, you cannot go back to the naive little child you once were. Embrace what you are and be happy.

As you grow and change, you may change in ways that scare you. It may seem that you have grown apathic to those around you, perhaps even those you love. This is attempt to put distance between you and those you care about, as an instinct to protect them. How so? Emotions are often considered a weakness. If your enemies know who your loved ones are they can harm them to get to you. If you appear distant and not interested your enemies will likely take less interest in them.

I know you have probably heard this before, but things will get easier as you get older. But you have to forget what society has taught you, open your mind and embrace your nature.
